Should we get a repeat Parvo vaccination for our 10 week old Yorkie? ?
Hi, we got her about 10 days ago and we were told she’d had a Parvo vaccination and had been wormed…….but we weren’t shown any documentation proving that, we took it at face value.
Today she started pooing a little blood in her stool, could it be worms? How would we know if she actually had had a Parvo vaccine, is it safe to give her another one just to be on the safe side?
We plan to bring her to the vet this coming week for other injections and a general checkup. Also, she’s very snappy! Bites but doesn’t break the skin…..we have started to slap, gently I add, her on the nose when she does that, is this the right thing to do? We don’t slap her nose in anger, the opposite, it’s to try and teach her not to bite. Sounds like that old “should you slap your child or not” question!
Thanks.
Thanks for your answers, I don’t want to give the impression that we hit our puppy, we don’t and never would. We gently slap her nose, yelping or saying NO! firmly doesn’t seem to work much. We do take good care of her, she’s after falling asleep now, I rub her head until she falls asleep, guess puppies like that!
Thanks for the info about slapping on the nose, won’t do it anymore, she’s too tiny and doesn’t know any better, was silly to do it in the first instance I think. We’ll just have to persevere with the firm NO’s!
Editor’s Note:
An immune system booster can help with Parvo prevention.
