Parvo and distemper vaccinations?

How long does it take for them to take affect on full grown dog…I ask because three weeks ago I adopted a puppy from the local shelter I got hes shot the day I got him but eight days later he died of distemper we got our other dogs their shots I was just wondering how long after we get their last shot how long will it take for them to become imun and how long should I wait to get another puppy?

I understand that Parvo shots don’t work against the 2c strain of the virus.

my dog just died! i got her less than 3 weeks ago and she was fine i also got her shots the day we got her and 8 days later we hadd to put her to sleep becasue the vet said she was suffering and dieing slowly day by day! it was so heart breaking! im still not over it! :’(! but yeah…

I’m so sorry. Demand the batch number from the vaccine and report it just to make sure it wasn’t tainted. It is possible she was exposed at the shelter. I would demand they reimburse you. And I would turn them into the humane society for possibly adopting out sick puppies.
